Leading up to the Miss Universe Competition in 1983, I was a regular at Les Mills in Auckland. It was back in the days of Jazzergetics, g-string leotards, hot pink lycra tights and leg warmers. Anyway I loved doing those classes and they got me fit and it was always lots of fun. After winning Miss Universe, Philip Mills kindly offered me a lifetime membership, and in return I did some publicity for the gym. I used the gym in Wellington,on and off, over the years and since returning to Auckland in 2008, I have been a regular again. I have become one of those ‘addicted’ spin class enthusiasts, and I am proud of it! Spin is my answer to my type of ‘exercise’ personality, which is one that needs to be locked in a room for 45 mins, have great music playing, lots of other people in the class to encourage me, and of course fun and inspirational teachers, that make me want to come back and do it again. Les Mills has always been super professional, motivational, always ahead in fitness trend and offering that to its members. What is amazing, is seeing faces there that I recognize from back in the early 80’s,(yes we know who we are!) and that is a real testimony to Les Mills. Thanks Philip for your generousity all those years ago, much gratitude. Check out where Les Mills is today! http:// www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3ue23D6LUo
